Joan Greenwald, Owner

Joan Greenwald, owner of Ebb Tide Kennels and Stables, went to her first dog show when she was in grade school, and was hooked from the start. She couldn’t have a dog at home due to family allergies. So, instead, she started training the neighborhood dogs including a terrier mix named Ginger, who spent more time in Joan’s yard than her own!

She started showing and breeding Newfoundlands in 1980 and has earned numerous titles in obedience, rally obedience, agility, draft and water rescue.

In 2000 Joan became an AKC and CKC Agility judge, and in 2006 became an AKC Rally Obedience judge. This has given her an entirely new insight on the sport and also a way to give back to the sport.

Joan has been teaching dog obedience classes at Ebb Tide Kennels and Stables for over 30 years and added agility classes over 20 years ago. Her students have won numerous titles and Championships in obedience, rally obedience, agility, draft, waterwork, and conformation with a wide variety of breeds. She has recently added Nose Work classes to her schedule and is enjoying introducing her students to this exciting new venue.

She is a 1985 graduate of the Rochester Institute of Dog Grooming and has been grooming all breeds ever since
